The Rays reached a deal to acquire veteran right-handed starter Aaron Civale from the Guardians on Monday, agreeing to part with slugging first-base prospect Kyle Manzardo, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

Neither club has confirmed the trade. Manzardo, 23, is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No. 37 prospect in the game.
 

After trading Max Scherzer to the Texas Rangers, general manager Billy Eppler insisted the New York Mets are not tearing down their underachieving team.

"I do want to be clear that it's not a rebuild. It's not a fire sale," Eppler said Sunday at Citi Field. "It's not a liquidation."

The Yankees will face the American League East-leading Baltimore Orioles this weekend with Aaron Judge's return to the lineup imminent.

Arenado is still owed $109 million through 2027, though the Colorado Rockies are paying $15 million of that from when they traded him to the Cardinals. 

The San Diego Padres aren't committed to selling, but they are listening to offers for Josh Hader, Blake Snell and Juan Soto, according to a report.

San Diego is more than six games out of a postseason berth in the National League.

Hader and Snell are pure rentals with both set to become free agents after the season.

Detroit Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez is becoming one of the hottest names on the trade market.

Rodriguez has been drawing plenty of scouts to his recent starts, with the Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks among the clubs keeping a close eye on him.

Despite being sidelined for five weeks with a finger injury, Rodriguez has put together a very strong season. He's posted a 2.95 ERA and 91 strikeouts over 88 1/3 innings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have shown interest in Chicago White Sox reliever Joe Kelly, according to a report.

There are a number of clubs interested in Kelly ahead of the trade deadline.

Kelly's contract carries a $9.5 million team option for 2024.
